Join the Pasadena/Altadena human chain for dignity

This Saturday June 13th join neighbors, friends, workers, and families as we link hands in a peaceful show of support for workers currently helping rebuild Altadena after the devastation of the wildfires. We will make a human chain stretching across Pasadena and Altadena. We'll stand together and hold hands along the sidewalks and streets from Lincoln Avenue to Lake Avenue, a distance of about 1 mile. The event starts at 9:00 AM and takes place along Woodbury Road (from Lincoln Ave to Lake Ave). More information about the logistics will be sent after signing up.

Below is a message shared by Jose Madera, director of the Pasadena Community Job Center.
"The fires swept through Altadena and Pasadena and took almost everything. But the people who showed up to rebuild - the day laborers, the construction workers, the workers at the job sites, the corners, the Home Depot - They are still here. They never left. And yet the same regime that benefits from their labor sends ICE to their job sites. To the bus stops where they wait. To the corners where they stand. To construction sites. That is why on June 13th, at 9am, we are forming La Muralla Humana - The Human Shield. A two-mile human chain from Pasadena to Altadena. A tangible and visible declaration that our community will not stand by while the workers rebuilding our homes are threatened, detained, and disappeared. What we know: There is no reconstruction without immigrant workers; Brown and Black communities affected by the fires are rebuilding together - homeowners, survivors, and workers all united as one; Our collective love is our protection. Let's make sure Day Laborers are never alone.
