Canvas to Flip California Congressional District 22
Join Indivisible Altadena-Pasadena and Northeast Los Angeles Alliance for Democracy in a caravan on Saturday, September 19, to Bakersfield to canvas for progressive Democrat Randy Villegas in his bid to unseat Republican David Valadao from Congress. This is a canvas that matters.
We’ll get up early to go to Bakersfield to help flip California Congressional District 22, one of the competitive districts in the mid-term elections that could determine if the Democrats gain control of the House. The Cook Political Report ranks the race as a toss-up, so help Villegas win by signing up to canvas here.
We’ll hit the streets at 10 a.m. in Bakersfield to urge voters to back Villegas, who pledges to work for healthcare for all, a path to citizenship for migrants, an end to the corporate buy up of housing, regulation of AI and protection of jobs, a cleaner environment, an end to political corruption, and making sure the top 1 percent pay their fair share of taxes, among many other progressive positions. Villegas is backed by Bernie Sanders, Ro Khanna, Dolores Huerta, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Robert Garcia, and a host of additional progressive lawmakers and organizations, such as Indivisible, Working Families Party, California Teachers Association, ACCE, National Nurses United, UAW, Jane Fonda Climate PAC, CHIRLA, League of Conservation Voters, and the list goes on.
Below are the details. First, sign up to join the canvas caravan at https://www.mobilize.us/indivisiblealtapasadena/event/1023947/. Then, plan to join us Saturday, September 19, at 7:30 a.m. at the South Pasadena Metro Station parking lot at 805 S. Meridian Avenue, where underground parking is free. We will quickly get carpools organized for the two-hour trip to Bakersfield. We’ll get there by 10 a.m. for a quick orientation before getting our assigned canvassing routes. Each route will cover 40 to 50 households and take about 2 to 3 hours. After finishing our routes, we’ll stop for a quick lunch before driving home. We expect to get back to South Pasadena by 4 p.m.
