Jan 24th Glendale CNA/NNU Rally Save Our Hospitals, Protect Our Patients
Kick-off rally for Red Alert: Save Our Hospitals, Protect Our Patients national hospital tour
Indivisible Alta-Pasadena is honored to be co-sponsoring a kick-off rally in Glendale on Saturday January 24th at 12pm. This is the kick off rally for a national hospital tour that California Nurses Association/National Nurses United (CNA/NNU) is organizing called the ‘Red Alert: Save Our Hospitals, Protect Our Patients’ hospital tour.

The purpose of the event will be to highlight the immediate need to keep our community hospitals open (Glendale Memorial & USC Verdugo Hills) and to draw attention to the many negative impacts of the Trump administration and the Republican-dominated Congress’ passage of H.R. 1.
From the organizers:
Join us on Jan. 24 as we launch the nurses’ national hospital tour to build power and community support across the country, with a goal of saving vulnerable U.S. hospitals from cuts or closure. Trump and Republicans have gutted health care programs like Medicaid — programs that keep our hospitals running — all to fund billionaire tax breaks and ICE. Together, nurses, patients, and our allies are fighting back against this cruelty, demanding a healthy society based on care and compassion.
In the face of impending hospital closures, devastating cuts to Medicaid, and huge increases in funding for ICE, the rally will bring together nurses, labor movement allies, community leaders, elected officials, and the public to demonstrate our solidarity with all patients and communities seeking to save their hospital from potential closure and to fight for a dignified life for all working people.
Urgency of HR 1 and potential hospital closures
- Medicaid cuts - $911 billion cut over 10 years, 401 hospitals at risk of closure, 3.4 million Californians could lose Medi-Cal coverage
- Connection to immigrant rights and expanded ICE budget
Solution
- Working with supportive legislators to provide $8.1 billion in assistance to keep these hospitals open
- Part of our larger “Vision for a Healthy Society” platform, which delivers health, safety, and freedom for all.
