Voting For CA State Strong (CASS) 2026 Priority Bills
Indivisible Alta-Pasadena is one of 60+ groups in the Indivisible CA State Strong (CASS) coalition. As a member group of the CASS coalition we participate in nominating and voting for CASS Priority Bills at the beginning of each year of the 2-year legislative period. To learn more about CASS see this previous post linked below.

We are currently in the second year of the 2025-2026 legislative session. A total of 1,798 new bills were introduced between Jan 5th-February 20th. This is actually the lowest number of bills introduced in twenty years. This reflects both the lower number of bills each legislator is allowed to introduce as well as being the final year in the 2-year session, which typically sees less bills introduced compared to year 1.
From these almost 2,000 new bills, members of the CASS coalition have nominated 61 bills for consideration as Priority Bills. Nominated bills were presented at the March CASS Monthly Meeting. Slides from the meeting highlighting nominated bills are linked below.

You can also review the 61 bills in the spreadsheet linked below. The spreadsheet includes links to bills, brief descriptions of what the bill would do, supporters and additional press releases or press coverage. Our spreadsheet was prepared from materials shared by the CASS leadership team.
The next step in the process for the coalition is selecting a total of up to 29 bills as Priority Bills as follows:
- Select 4 out of 11 Democracy Reform nominated bills
- Select 5 out of 9 Climate Justice nominated bills
- Select 6 out of 18 Economic Justice nominated bills
- Select 5 out of 12 Racial & Criminal Justice nominated bills
- Select 9 out of 11 Healthcare & Reproductive Justice nominated bills
The number of bills is indicative of the different Working Group capacities. For example, Healthcare has more members than Economic Justice! Currently two of our members are participating in the Economic Justice and Climate Justice working groups respectively. Interested in representing us at one of the other working groups?
